Dear Clients, RE: Australian Wharfage and Shipping Line Document Fees. We have been receiving notices from several shipping lines of their annual increase in Wharfage and document fees. Several carriers have increased rates by over AUD120 per 20ft and AUD150 per 40ft. This has seen 40ft DTHC (wharfage) push above AUD1000 per 40ft container for the first time via a handful of carriers. Shipping Line Doc fees are now averaging around the AUD120 - 130 per BL, with one carrier now charging AUD150 per BL. We expect to see other carriers follow over time and unfortunately, we anticipate that many carriers will be charging over AUD1000 per 40ft CNTR for local wharfage. As a comparison for your records, import DTHC into USA is approx USD650 per 40ft CNTR.
