Dear Clients, We have received several notices from shipping companies announcing a further round of General Rate Increases "GRI". This latest announcement is for a GRI to be applied on the 1st September for cargo originating in CHINA, HONG KONG, TAIWAN, KOREA into all Australian Ports. This is the 3rd GRI in 30 days... 1st AUG - USD150 per 20' / USD300 per 40' + LCL @ USD10 per WM 15th AUG - USD150 per 20' / USD300 per 40' + LCL @ USD10 per WM 1st SEPT - USD150 per 20' / USD300 per 40' + LCL @ USD10 per WM We would not be surprised if carriers announce a further increase on the 15th SEPTEMBER in the lead up to Golden Week in China at the end of Sept - start of OCT. The general feedback is that volumes into the east coast are slowly building and demand is increasing. We are therefore at that point in time, where we would recommend you shipping over the coming period to avoid further price increases in the lead up to NOV / DEC cargo rush.
