Dear Clients,

Shipping lines have once again announced another price increase. A GRI amount of USD300 per 20’ / USD600 per 40’ from the 15th JULY.

In some positive news it seems that congestion in Singapore is starting to ease for some shipping lines and JULY volumes ex China have not been as strong as shipping lines were forecasting. Therefore, the pricing may start to stabilise a little and future price increases, although advertised may not be fully approved.

The world Drewy index (tracks freight rates) is some 266% higher than 12 months ago... Shanghai – Rotterdam and New York, two key trade lanes tracked are currently at USD7800-8200 per 40’ range. This is only 20-30% lower than the pandemic highs... But keep in mind, the Drewy index is the VSL average and actual market rates are pushing above USD10,000 for space and equipment on these.
