Dear Clients, In good news, the shipping line market has cooled a little into EAST COAST of AUSTRALIA in recent days, with the advertised price increases failing to fully eventuate. West Coast (Fremantle and Adelaide) rates continue to increase, due to several shipping lines reducing their acceptance on “NEW” bookings at origin in China and S.E.Asia, due to the significant congestion in Singapore. AUG could be a different storey… We have received notice that MSC will reduce vessel sizes by approx 1500 – 2000 TEU per VSL. This is due to the larger ships being redeployed onto higher grossing trade lanes. This will see vessels downsize from an average of 6000 – 6500 TEU, to 4000 – 4500 TEU. Blank sailings may also occur as these vessels swap over. Pricing into AUSTRALIA is still considerably lower than majority of the trade lanes. We have seen, quoted and moved cargo at USD12,000 – 13,000 per 40’ ex India / China into USA. With pricing this high on other trade lanes, equipment is still a big issue. Impact is being felt in the availability of containers, location of available container (far away from factories) and quality. Like during the pandemic, we are seeing very poor, old containers being used once again, which is creating additional costs for importers who are getting hit with repair costs unfairly.
