Dear Clients, Since our JULY newsletter where rates started to cool a little, carriers have once again swung into attack mode with pricing. Rates are increasing into the USD2000-2500 range per 20’ / USD4000-5000 range in AUGUST. There are still spot rates lower in the market, but they are becoming harder and harder to find and secure space on. Moving Forward today, several carriers have announced a USD500 per 20’ & USD1000 per 40’ increase from the 1st SEPT. We expect this to stick as traditionally SEPT 1st and 15th is where carriers have gained increase in rates, due to the increase in bookings prior to the “GOLDEN WEEK” holiday in China, the 1st week of OCTOBER. Please see the table below tracking the price increases advertised to market over the past several months. We do not see an easing on rates through SEPT / OCT / NOV as we head into the pointy end of the importing year. We strongly recommend booking as early as possible for the best available price. And like always, we can find space at short notice, but its at a much higher rate, therefore please have your shippers booking 3 weeks in advance.
