Please find below a summary for the 2022 – 2023 Brown Marmorated Stink Bug Season.

Measures apply to goods shipped between 1st Sept 2022 until 30th April 2023.

No new countries listed this year, so the current list remains unchanged for the upcoming season: Target Risk Countries

Target risk goods subject to measures remain unchanged Target Risk Goods

Emerging risk countries are now only UK and China – Target risk goods from these countries are subject to random inspections as follows:

China – goods shipped between 1st Sept & 31st December (inclusive)
UK – goods shipped between 1st December & 30th April (inclusive)

In addition to target risk goods, goods classified to Chapter 94 and 95 (Furniture, Toys, Games & Sports Equipment) are now subject to random inspection from emerging risk countries.

Inspections have now been changed to inspect unpack rather than seals intact inspections. This will allow AA’s to unpack prior to inspection to reduce delays.

An in transit policy has been amended to allow goods that have been delayed for 48 hours to have the 120 hour rule extended (subject to sufficient evidence being provided). If you require more detailed information on this please contact me.

120 hour rule is as follows:

Containers must be sealed within 120 hours of treatment being
completed. Sealing Declaration required where unsupported by on
board date.
Break Bulk, FR and OT containers must be shipped on
board within 120 hours of treatment being completed. On shore
treatment options remain unavailable for these shipping types.

Good manufactured after 1st Dec and classified to Ch 82, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89 and evidenced by a man dec stating goods are New, Unused and Non-field tested and manufactured after 1st December are not subject to mandatory BMSB treatment.
